It's a common misconception that NFL cheerleaders are rich, glamorous and have affairs with NFL players. In fact, most of the women cheering on the sidelines at the NFL games practically work for free, and the "no co-mingling with players" clause in their contract eleiminates the chance of dating a player.
Per Game Basis
1. NFL cheerleaders are usually compensated about $50 to $75 for each game, and some are paid monthly salaries ranging from $200 to $1,000. Salaries are usually given to the elite cheerleaders who have been with the same team for an extended period of time or have extensive cheerleading experience.
Yearly Total
2. After 2 preseason games and 8 regular-season games, most cheerleaders earn between $500 to $750 per season, depending on what teams they cheer for.
Paid Appearances
3. If the squad coordinator approves, an NFL cheerleader may make extra money by participating in paid public appearances. These are outside the usual non-paid public appearances that NFL cheerleaders must participate in throughout the season.
Fun Fact
4. A former San Francisco 49ers Gold Rush cheerleader, television star Teri Hatcher was being paid $285,000 per episode for her role in "Desperate Housewives". For that she says "Sis, Boom Bah."
